Hunting the Hunter: Fowling and Interpretive Entrapment in Upon Appleton House

چکیده
Focusing on Upon Appleton House, this article seeks to illumine Marvell’s communication audiences (or the idea of audience) and thereby find an embodied authenticity.  Examining relationship between narrative surface-level appeals, excavates stanzas that represent common hunting practices figure interpreter's entrapment.  It focuses following intertexts: Gervase Markham’s Hungers Prevention (1621), a fowling text where Marvell found his “inverted tree”; Culex, brief mock epic attributed Virgil locates comedic gestures in grand poetic ambition; Augustine’s Confessions, which its metaphorical treatment birdlime helps us understand investment poetry be suspension self-conscious pleasure recursive process.

House-Hunting Without Second Moments
In the house-hunting problem, i.i.d. random variables, X1,X2, . . . are observed sequentially at a cost of c > 0 per observation. The problem is to choose a stopping rule, N , to maximize E(XN − Nc). If the X’s have a finite second moment, the optimal stopping rule is N∗ = min{n ≥ 1 : Xn > V ∗}, where V ∗ satisfies E(X − V ∗)+ = c. The statement of the problem and its solution requires only the...
متن کاملThe Deer Hunter: the Unintended Effects of Hunting Regulations
To control the deer population, state game commissions regulate the types of deer that can be legally harvested. These regulations, however, might have an unintended effect on hunting-related accidents by changing the care hunters take when firing their rifles—a moral hazard effect—or changing the composition of hunters. Using detailed data on hunting accidents and regulations in Pennsylvania c...
متن کاملDistributed House-Hunting in Ant Colonies Citation
We introduce the study of the ant colony house-hunting problem from a distributed computing perspective. When an ant colony’s nest becomes unsuitable due to size constraints or damage, the colony relocates to a new nest. The task of identifying and evaluating the quality of potential new nests is distributed among all ants. They must additionally reach consensus on a final nest choice and trans...
متن کاملInfluence of Hunter Adaptability on Resilience of Subsistence Hunting Systems
The capacity of hunters to shape the fundamental properties of their lifestyle at times when extrinsic factors change the availability of subsistence foods is critical to subsistence cultures. Recent changes in deer hunting on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska illustrate the social-ecological challenges to the resilience of a rural subsistence hunting system and raise the broader question of wheth...
متن کاملStatistical Modeling of Hunting Success Using Hunter Surveys
Different methods are available to estimate the wildlife population development. In this paper a method based on hunter surveys of a Spanish game preserve is proposed. A Poisson model is fitted to estimate the relationship between hunting success and other independent variables. In order to find the most appropriate model, a model selection procedure based on repeated cross validation is used t...
